It provides 8 hours of AAFP Prescribed credit and covers safe opioid prescribing and pain management topics. This single activity meets:
Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify evidence-based pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for acute and chronic pain conditions.
2. Implement CDC guidelines for safe opioid prescribing, including initiation, monitoring, and tapering.
3. Use validated tools and urine drug testing to assess opioid misuse risk and apply overdose prevention strategies.
4. Establish patient-centered functional goals and engage in shared decision-making for pain management.
Group Study Workshop Information: In our group study workshop, we will review the questions together, and no prior preparation is required. Copies of the questions provided by the ABFM will be sent along with your Zoom login details. We aim to cover all 60 questions in the workshop, with an expert speaker guiding the discussion and providing background information. After displaying each question, participants will respond via a poll, and the group will work together to determine the best answer. All answers will be submitted collectively, and participants will receive credit for completing the knowledge self-assessment. The KSA will earn 10 certification points and 8 live CME credits for ABFM certification requirements.
Accreditation
The Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
