Dr. Amro ElSharoud - Class of 2029 Board Member

Dear Members of the Leadership Development Committee:

I am writing to express my interest in serving on the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors.

As a family physician practicing full-spectrum family medicine with surgical obstetrics in rural Illinois, I am passionate about advancing our specialty and strengthening the voice of family physicians across the state. My involvement with IAFP has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional career, and I am eager to continue serving the Academy in new ways.

I currently serve as a Congress of Delegates Observer, Co-Chair of the Family Medicine Obstetrics Member Interest Group (FMOB MIG), and a member of the CME Committee, New Physician Committee, International Medical Graduates (IMG) MIG, and the IAFP Podcast Task Force. These roles have allowed me to contribute to member engagement, physician education, advocacy, and the promotion of full-spectrum family medicine.

Recently, I had the opportunity to represent family medicine at the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC, where I met with legislators and advocated for policies that support family physicians and the patients we serve. Experiences such as these have strengthened my commitment to organized medicine and the important work of IAFP.

As a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and a physician leader within my organization, I am committed to developing future family physicians, expanding access to care, and promoting physician leadership.

I would be honored to serve on the Board and continue contributing to the mission of IAFP in any capacity needed. Thank you for your consideration.
