Group Study Workshop Information
In our group study workshop, we will review the questions together, and no prior preparation is required. Copies of the questions provided by the ABFM will be sent along with your Zoom login details. We aim to cover all 30 questions per workshop day, with an expert speaker guiding the discussion and providing background information. After displaying each question, participants will respond via a poll, and the group will work together to determine the best answer. All answers will be submitted collectively, and participants will receive credit for completing the knowledge self-assessment. The KSA will earn 10 certification points and eight live CME credits for ABFM certification requirements.
ABFM Information
A completed KSA will provide 10 certification points and 8 CME credits toward ABFM certification requirements.
The certification point system now requires diplomates to accumulate 50 MC-FP points in each stage, with the completion of at least one Part II activity, which is now a KSA instead of a SAM. KSA activities are worth 10 points each, and the clinical self-assessment (CSAs) will be valued at 5 points. With the separation of the clinical simulation component from the knowledge self-assessment, live group study KSA participants can now choose to complete the KSA at a later time.
If you have any questions about how many Family Medicine Certification activities are required for you at this time and/or when you need to complete them, the ABFM can assist you (ABFM: 877-223-7437).
The ABFM will charge a fee to take their test; the amount varies depending on your re-election cycle. This fee is in addition to the program participation cost. You do not need to pay for the KSA activity in advance to earn credit for participation in the program.
After completion of the KSA, if you owe your Family Medicine Certification process fee for the year, you will be prompted to pay this within your ABFM Physician Portfolio to receive credit for this activity.
Workshop Accreditation
An application for live continuing medical education (CME) credit has been submitted to the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
The AAFP has reviewed Diabetes KSA Virtual Workshop Oct 2025 and deemed it acceptable for up to 8.00 Knowledge Self-Assessment, Live AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 10/22/2025 to 10/23/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel without penalty if the cancellation request is received up to and including 15 days before the start of the event. No refunds or credits will be issued on cancellation requests received fewer than 15 days before the start of the KSA. You may email registration to cancel.
Performance Improvement (PI)
The IAFP's Diabetes Self-Management Education Performance Improvement Project is designed to enhance patient outcomes while aligning with the American Board of Family Medicine’s (ABFM) Performance Improvement standards.
Participants will follow a structured PDSA cycle to implement effective strategies like medication optimization, nutrition therapy, and physical activity.
