To inform and guide the Academy's advocacy efforts. The GR Committee evaluates current issues at the state and federal levels and determines their relevance and connection to IAFP/AAFP policy. Some expected responsibilities include:
- Participating in grassroots lobbying on legislation that affects physicians and patients.
- Using their knowledge to educate local colleagues and lawmakers on key issues.
- Recommending support, opposition, or changes to state legislation and regulations presented for their consideration.
- Facilitating discussions that may lead to improved policies at the state and federal levels, benefiting family medicine and patient care.
- Assisting and participating in the biennial Spring Into Action (mini lobby days), where IAFP members meet to discuss important issues with elected officials and policymakers in Springfield.
The 2026 meeting dates are scheduled for Wednesdays via Zoom at 8:00 PM: February 4, March 18, May 13, June 24, September 16, and December 12 (in person at the Annual Meeting).
