I am writing to express my strong interest in continuing to serve as one of the Illinois Alternate Delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates for a second two-year term.

It has been a privilege to represent the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) and contribute to national dialogue on key issues impacting our patients and profession. My ongoing commitment to organized medicine, policy development, and equity in healthcare aligns closely with both IAFP’s bylaws and the expectations for state delegation service as outlined by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

For over fifteen years I have maintained active leadership within IAFP—including serving as President (2021–2022), Board Chair (2022–2023), and in every executive officer position leading up to those roles. I have also been honored to co-chair the Reproductive Health Member Interest Group and actively serve on the Government Relations and Family Medicine Educators Committees. My history of active participation at the national level includes serving on the AAFP Commission on Education (2018–2022) and currently on the AAFP Education Advisory Committee.

Throughout my service, I have consistently demonstrated commitment to AAFP’s core values and mission. As Alternate Delegate, I have taken seriously the responsibility to represent Illinois physicians, thoughtfully reviewing resolutions, engaging in delegation strategy, and participating in advocacy efforts with both professionalism and passion. My national presentations at FMX, publications on postpartum care and addiction, and ongoing work in direct primary care further reflect my dedication to the advancement of family medicine.

My clinical, academic, and advocacy background—combined with my extensive leadership experience—equips me well to continue contributing meaningfully in this role. I would be honored to build upon the relationships and progress of the past two years and continue serving Illinois family physicians on the national stage.

Thank you for your consideration and for your continued leadership. I welcome the opportunity to continue this vital work.

Warm regards,
Tabatha Wells, MD, FAAFP
